Which of Puerto Rico's 78 municipalities have a hospital emergency room (CMS) or a listed CDT, and which have none.
Key findings
- 54 hospitals in Puerto Rico report emergency services to CMS, located in 22 of 78 municipalities.
- 56 municipalities have no hospital that reports emergency services in the CMS data.
- 11 municipalities have neither a hospital ER (CMS) nor a listed emergency room / CDT: Aguas Buenas, Barranquitas, Camuy, Ceiba, Ciales, Coamo, Juncos, Morovis, Naranjito, San Lorenzo, Vieques.
- Only 2 medical listings publish 24-hour hours in our sources, so “open 24 hours” must be confirmed by phone.
Method
Hospital ERs: CMS Hospital General Information, hospitals with “Emergency Services = Yes”. Emergency rooms / CDTs and urgent care: BuscaIsla listings of those types (from NPPES NPI taxonomy, OpenStreetMap and business websites). A listing in a type does not guarantee 24-hour service.
